Hey guys! I’m back with another review of a Cosrx product. This one has a special place in my heart as it was my first kbeauty cleanser. Since then, I’ve been through several bottles and I think many other people would agree with how amazing this cleanser is.
On Cosrx’s website they say that the cleanser will
Sustain moisture every day and all day long!
Mildly acidic pH 5.0 ~ 6.0 Good Morning Gel Cleanser pH 5.0 ~ 6.0 : similar to skin’s natural pH level
Contain tea-tree oil : control oily skin, shrink pore size
Contain natural BHA : refine skin texture
Gel type : smooth and skin friendly
WHY choose Good Morning Mildly Acidic Cleanser?
Human skin’s natural pH is around 5. This slightly acidic environment offers ideal environment for skin.
Don’t get yourself fooled! Washing with water only in the morning is not acceptable even after the perfect wash day before at night!
Skin produces dead skins and sebum while you sleep. Mildly acidic cleanser softly removes those wastes and leaves skin hydrated all day long.
With Low pH Cleanser, make your skin environment healthy and protect your skin barrier.
The cleanser is meant to be used in the traditional two step cleanse. Specifically, you would use this cleanser after washing off your makeup/sunscreen with an oil based cleanser. It also makes a refreshing morning cleanser. (duh, as noted by the name)
Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, Polysorbate 20, Styrax Japonicus Branch/Fruit/Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Saccharomyces Ferment, Cryptomeria Japonica Leaf Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract, Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Flower Extract, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Allantoin, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Betaine Salicylate, Citric Acid, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Benzoate, Disodium EDTA
First off, this ingredient list is pretty sick. In a good way. There are so many super interesting and unique ingredients here, but also some really great reliable ones. Even though the first ingredient is water, It doesn’t deter me at all from buying this cleanser, mostly because it is a gel water based cleanser. The main ingredient that Cosrx focuses on in this cleanser is the Cryptomeria Japonica Leaf Extract, which constitutes 70.85% of the ingredient list. (It occurs twice on the ingredient list!) This extract targets skin texture degradation, a more finicky aspect of aging. Skin texture degradation occurs because of the gradual slowing down of cell regeneration as well as a damaged skin barrier. In turn, the extract energizes the phytochemicals in your skin, basically speeding up the skin cell renewal. It rebuilds skin and strengthens your skin barrier for younger, smoother skin. Basically, this is the good stuff. Some ingredients the website didn’t mention (but are still fantastic) are Tea tree oil, Betaine Salicylate, and Citric Acid. The smell of this cleanser is very medicinal, herbal, calming, japanese garden-esque and this most definitely comes from the Tea Tree Oil. I love that Cosrx doesn’t use fragrance, and tea tree oil is great for acne prone skin anyways. I’m also loving the Betaine Salicylate, a low dosage of a replacement of salicylic acid is also great for acne prone skin. Lastly, a little bit of Citric Acid for Vitamin C to brighten the complexion. Nothing on this ingredient list is harmful, and each ingredient really packs a punch in it’s own way.

For 150mL, the prices are so good. This is such a budget friendly cleanser, it really is for everyone. Also, a little goes a long way.
I love this cleanser. It’s such a classic, reliable, and relaxing way to start my morning and end my days. Some people might not like the smell, but I personally love the smell of tea tree oil so that’s definitely a personal preference. Also, if you’re big on foam, this is not your cleanser. This isn’t a foaming cleanser (as seen in the photos above). There is talk about how creating on your foam is a little bit too much agitation for some people’s skin so this may be a good thing. In terms of feeling, this cleanser leaves my skin feeling a teensy bit squeaky, but if I don’t feel a little bit squeaky, I don’t feel clean. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight so I really enjoy that as well. My pores definitely look a little tighter, and my skin is smoother after using this. This cleanser is super efficient for the price. I haven’t notice it really improve my breakouts but my breakouts have so many factors it’s a little difficult to pinpoint exactly what the problem is. It probably does help as it reduces my sebum production. (Not long term but enough to get through my day.) Additionally, this cleanser is really specific on the pH level, which is really important for your skin. If the pH is too high, it causes the uncomfortably tight skin problem. The lo pH keeps your skin neutral, not agitating it further like surprisngly many cleansers do. This is an amazing cleanser to start off with. The packaging is pretty cute and it’s really easy to squeeze and apply. Sometimes I worry about how easily the gel comes out of the bottle but I’ve never really had a problem. Overall, amazing product, and I would 10 out of 10 recommend this.
Pros and Cons:
- budget friendly
- minimizes pores
- improves skin texture
- amazing ingredient list
- low pH
- may not like tea tree oil scent
Who Should Use:
I would definitely recommend this for my oily/combo skin #gang, but I can see normal and dry skin people using this and enjoying this. Maybe a little bit less but I would not rule it out, especially during the summer when it’s a little more humid.
It’s not life changing, didn’t cure my acne, but it is effective in other ways. A great cleanser for an amazing price. I would definitely give this as a gift to someone I cared about.
